Funtown's Jen Web is a major player in a hooping feature in the Philadelphia Inquirer today! The story is on the front page of the Inquirer and on the cover of the Style & Soul section in today's newspaper. It's also on the front page of the Inquirer's website! Good stuff! Grip one up... This paper is one of the biggest in the country so we're pretty stoked :D You can catch Jen Web performing at Camp Bisco, Muddy River Jam, and the Desiderata Festival this Summer. She's going to be starting up another series of hoop dance classes at Studio 34 in West Philly sometime soon and we just confirmed that she will be teaching a free hoop dance workshop at Desiderata! 2008 has been a monumental year for Funtown. The HQ was uprooted and replanted in Philly and our crew gained some awesome members from Virginia all the way up to Connecticut. Funtown is proud to announce that we are going to start selling our very own line of collapsible hoola hoops! Our lightweight hoops are excellent dance partners as well as fun fitness tools! When collapsed to half their size, they can be conveniently transported in the car, on the subway, etc. Take them to the gym, to your next festival, to the park, wherever! Be sure to visit us at Musikfest (Aug. 8) and the Virgin Mobile Festival (Aug. 9 & 10 - Baltimore, MD) to preview our fantastic new hoops! We had an absolute blast at Starscape this weekend. Some of us have never been there before and some of us have. Either way EVERYONE that went with us had an incredible amount of fun! :D
The music was amazing -- and there was a bonus light show -- an awesome storm that stopped the festival for awhile. Watching the massive lightning stretch across the entire sky over the water was so beautiful and there was just enough rain to cool us all off from the 100+ degree weather. (It was so ridiculously hot and sweaty that Lauren and Jen couldn't hoop on stage but they did hoop their asses off out in the crowd... and after the storm it was too wet for us all to dance on stage with Bassnectar, oh well!)

Much respect to all of our new friends... we met so many new people that we only knew from myspace, and we can definitely say that you were all really rad people!

Check it out! We were part of the Philly Spring Cleanup and talked to lots of people about helping clean a spot in the Funtown HQ neighborhood. We are located in the Kensington/Fishtown area of Philly. BUT the city was only organizing volunteers at certain spots and ours was not one of them! Tweeter show has local touch
While the Disco Biscuits, Keller Williams and more jam on the main stage of the Tweeter Center on New Year's Eve, lots more will be going on at the center's three-ring ''Circo Bisco.'' Matt Deifer, who lived in Coplay until moving to Philly recently, will paint in Kandinsky-ish, live improvisation style, with the music as his muse. Jen Dobrydnia of Quakertown will swing her glowing hula hoop, and Freedom, a Kutztown woman, will be one of a number of fire spinners.
Deifer, as part of his Funtown Productions, and DJ Ross D from Philadelphia's Playloop Records will manage a crew of 35 performers on two other stages and supplement the main stage show. They include DJs from the Philadelphia Experiment (PEX) and performers from the Philly Fire Arts.
