FUN STORIES SUBMITTED BY OUR FRIENDS

Rachel's Funtown story!

Heyhey Funtown!!

So I started hoop dancing a few weeks ago. Then on March 7th I went to Trance Energy in Utrecht (near Amsterdam) and brought my travel hoop along with me. It breaks down into 6 pieces so that way I can fit it in my luggage :) So, I was the **ONLY** person there with a hoop and everyone LOVED it! So many people tried it but no one could seem to keep it up :P So with all the crazy trance tunes keeping me going, I dance the night away in my hoop, representing the U.S. Our week in Amsterdam was AMAZING!! Between being legal (I'm 20 so I can't legally drink in the states), and all the crazy shenanigans, our trip was awesome! I loved the fact that I was the only one with a hoop and that I got to stand out in a sea of 30,000+ people, that was amazing!! I hope everyone gets to experience something like that! So, if you haven't gone to Amsterdam, you're missing out. And if you haven't gone to Trance Energy, I suggest getting over there at least once ;) It was one wicked fun week!! Well, dance on!!!

Millerdelphia's Funtown story!

I first met the crazy cats from Funtown in the parking lot of Walmart on Delaware Ave. They threatened to cut me with a razor blade if i didn't go inside with them and buy them each a case of slim-jims. They had a crazy look in their eyes and I could tell that I had to give in; only spiced meat sticks could appease their runaway desires. I got the slim-jims and after wolfing down 5 or 6 of them (apiece)one of them explaineherd that she had suffered from an uncontrollable spiced meat addiction since she was a young girl. Evidently the only way it can be spread from one person to another is through the shared use of hula hoops (remember kids, when you hula hoop, you're hooping with everyone that hula hoop has ever hooped with...trip out on that). She was pretty cute so I decided I'd help her out. I took her to MAA (meat addicts anonymous) and she slowly was able to kick her meat habit. I sure am proud of her. The kids from Funtown and I are going to get along great from now on!

Kelly's Funtown story!

Hey FUNTOWN!

Well let's put it this way, i'm addicted to your myspace ever since I found it on Musikfest's myspace! I absolutly love your concept! I am from Northampton (well actually Nazareth) but same difference. I think it is so awesome how people tell their stories, so I thought I would tell mine.
Except for mine I just put them all in a little picture billboard thing. I'm a new model, which I hope to persue more often. All of these pictures were taken by a very talented photographer & the photoshoot was a-mazing.
I had so, so much fun!
I hope you like these.
(picture is attatched!)

Keepin' it FUN!!

Kristy's Funtown story!

June 1st~ Suprise party for our friend!!

One of my fiance's best friend is turning 30! So his girlfriend and I along with his mom and sister planned a suprise party for him!! This was a tricky task concidering how hardheaded he can be sometimes... But guess what we pulled it off!! The place~ROSEMONT firecompany!! He walks in thinking he is attending his girlfriends cousins graduation party!! The look on his face when he relized that all the people in the building were his closest friends and realitives was all worth the month of planning!! What a great night... We had some TURNTABLES! We had alcohol!! We had beer pong!! What else do you say!! Apparently I have been dubbed the boobie girl!! And now I get the pleasure of snapping shots at boobies!! I would share them with everyone but I must get some permission before I go ahead and do so! The party went from 7-11 so it was an early night of drinking... Oh yeah there was also a pretty serious cake fight that happened which some loved but some of the not so fun people were alittle pissed that they had to spend time in the bathroom trying to get green icing out of thier hair!! LOL!! SOME GIRLS DON"T LIVE IN FUNTOWN AT ALL!!!!! Saturday June 2nd! Okay although this might sound alittle strange it was actually a blast of fun!! I attended a free concert in the Jordan church fields... WHo you might ask!? CRAZYHEART!! They are a local cover band who play all country!! And if you would of asked me a couple of years ago to attend a country concerty I would of just laughed at you>.. But I actually enjoy some of the songs.. And I couldn't believe all the people who were in attendance I would say a good 300-400 and that is crazy concidering the size of this field.. I went with my mom and her boyfriend.. And Elizabeth of coarse... Elizabeth was dancing right in front of the stage so she in turn was part of the show!!! She is such a attention queen!!!

Well it was a FUN NIGHT !! IN FUNTOWN!!!!

Can't wait to see what today brings!!

From Kristy

Kevin's Funtown Story!

Where does fun begin? Will fun ever end? These are questions one may ask when trying to determine the funest night they have had, in their very own Funtown. My journey began on August 29, 2006.

My cousin and I had been talking about going to a concert that evening. What concert you might ask? Well none other than the infamous GWAR! Something inside had told me that just the two of us would not quite cut it. It seemed as though there was something missing. Perhaps another fellow concertgoer was needed. Bingo!

I reached for the phone and called a very close friend of mine. To conceal her identity, let's call her "Bunny". Now I have always enjoyed her taste in music, and she mine. But I was going out on a limb thinking she would want to attend a bloodbath. Needless to say she gladly accepted my offer, so my cousin and I were well on our way to scoop her up. There was pre-gaming on the way, the only way to get fired up for a GWAR show; and all seemed just right for a night of death and carnage, until we arrived at the Crocodile Rock in Allentown.

Our little Bunny friend was only 20 years of age at the time, so she had to enter through the kiddy section. Meanwhile, my cousin and I, made our way to the big kids section. The line had gone from inside where they were selling tickets, through the bar, and out the front door. Mind you the Croc is not that large of a venue, however, we did lose Bunny within the first 10 minutes of being there. The crowd was reaching well over 1,000 people, which is far too much for the Croc to handle, and Bunny was nowhere in sight. You think it'd be easy to spot a short little blond in a crowd full of ugly, hairy men, but to the contrary she was like a needle in a haystack.

By this time I had ventured my way to the entrance from which she came in, and came across an ex-girlfriend of mine. She was running the ticket station at the front door on this night, so we struck up conversation as I waited to see if Bunny was trying to find me. I had left my cell phone in the car, so the ticket girl let me use hers. No luck. All hope is practically lost at this point, and the crowd is chanting for GWAR. So after a little more catching-up with the ex, I made my way back into the crowd. Which seemed much more like a mob by the time I went back in. Low and behold there is Bunny, trapped in the middle of the sweaty mob. Finally, our party is whole again. Except, where the hell is my cousin. For fear of losing my companion again, we just decided to stay where we were, and find my cousin later.

GWAR came out on stage and practically tore the roof off the joint. This is because with their costumes and such their heads came inches from the ceiling. There was not a single place in the Croc that night that was safe from the gore. GWAR had just released their latest album, 'Beyond Hell!', so the night was filled with new songs for our ever-anxious ears or what's left of them after GWAR destroys them. There were a couple of oldies in the too, however, the new stuff is what was catching my attention. That and every time Bunny got shot in the face with blood, I would share the same fate. What a joyous night indeed, however, the fun doesn't stop there.

Trying to get out of the Croc that night was like trying to herd a thousand zombies through that little door that's outside of Wal-mart. You know, the one the cart boys push the carts into. Anyway, you could only imagine the amounts of inadvertent rubbing against smelly, sweaty, bloody, old heads and it was not pretty. The closer we got to the door, the more we had wanted to just climb over everyone and get the bleep out of dodge. Finally, a break in the crowd, and the sweet embrace of the gusts of wind were welcomed with open arms. Bunny and I darted for the car. We turn back to see my cousin making his way from the bar, and a sense of relieve had fallen upon us. We had made it out of hell, alive. I changed out of my gore-drenched shirt and into a spare I had in my trunk. Nobody else was that fortunate. Exhausted, it was time to journey home.

Amidst our travels, we decided to take a breather at the local convenience store. The fact that I was covered in what seemed to be blood, my shirt was buttoned in a very unconventional fashion, and my shirt said Dr. Evil, did not help the man behind the counter feel any more comfortable than if I had walked in with a gun. A few more fellow hellions made their way into this establishment for post-GWAR beverages and I explained to the man, of Middle Eastern descent, that it was merely a concert we went to. A concert put on by hellish looking demons on stage that love to "rape" and "murder" celebrities or local police officials, all in good fun. Upon leaving this store we realized, the night was still young, and the diner was still open.

We get to the diner, and your usual four o'clock in the morning crowd is in attendanceÖ The old man at the bar-like counter drinking his coffee and telling stories of when he was youngÖ The young crowd of rowdy kids that have nothing else better to do than be at a diner at 4 in the morningÖ The rednecks in their very tight jeans and gigantic belt bucklesÖ Then you have Bunny and I, covered in red, green, and blue liquid. She had been cold not too much earlier so I had given her my hoody to get warm. I was far from worried about the blood getting on it. We place our orders. She had eggs benedict and I snagged an omelet. About half way through the meal, Bunny looks at me and says, "You know this is one of the craziest nights I've had in a while." So I respond, "Well I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I never would have figured you for a GWAR fan. Oh, and you got hollandaise sauce all over the right sleeve of my hoody." A barrage of apologies were flung my way, but I did not care. For we had survived GWAR!

Crazy Red Beard's Funtown Story!

Weekend fun....

Friday May 25th...Drove straight from the gallery in Charlottesville, VA to Pomona, NY. Met up with Erica and got about three hours of sleep before leaving the next day....

Saturday May 26th...For Strangecreek 2007 in Greenfield, MA. We pulled in right as Buzz Universe was playing. We set up camp and I then jumped up on stage with the 4:20pm set of the Rev Tor Band. The live painting was a spirit totem meant to bestow blessings upon the audience.

Then, at 5:20, it was time for another live one with the Depth Quartet. They played some stellar jazz and avante guard goodness and we collaborated on a painting with the audience.

Then it was over to Vernville to throw some paint with Brianne Diomedes to the tunes of Unexplained Bacon. I finished off the night by painting a 24x48 canvas with the headliners, Max Creek. Gimme Shelter!!!

Sunday, May 27th...Four more paintings, this time starting with a combo piece done with the Juggling Suns... then one with the Ryan Montbleau band and, finally, a cabin rocking set of Breadbox Band music.

Two days: Eight paintings.

One love.

PEACE.

JenWeb's Funtown story!

On this particular Friday I worked until 7 p.m... Didn't have time for the usual cocktail while counting my tip money. Matt and I had a house party to go to, and our good friend Ross was coming with us! I drove home, washed off the day's dirt and then hit the road with Matt to my favorite city... PHILADELPHIA! Matt and I arrived at Ross' house around 10 p.m. or so... Immediately after getting out of the car I tripped over the sidewalk and scrapped the **** out of my knee! Matt laughed histerically. I don't blame him. I carefully made it the rest of the way to the door where we were greeted by Ross and a very pleasant young woman by the name of Heather. The four of us decided to walk a couple blocks to pick up some six-packs at a bar. After hearing what sounded like the start of a potentially violent scuffle we paid for the beer and got the **** out of there. With plastic bags full of loose Coors Light cans we made our way back to Ross'. After putting the beer in the fridge we headed up to the rooftop porch where I was greeted by the glow of the Philadelphia skyline and the stars. It was a picture perfect view. I felt tiny against the opposing buildings, but miles above everything else. We partied on the roof top, ate some "not quite done" chicken off the grill and then decided it was time to go out on the town. Our first stop was probably the swankiest bowling alley I've ever seen. Modern lighting, leather seating, a fantastic liquor selection, etc. We drank peach vodka with ginger ale. It tasted like a granny smith apple. Then we each got a shot of Tuaca. I was the loser who couldn't finish my whole shot... so I said "**** it!" and mixed the two together... which made an equally good and horrendous cocktail. We then walked to another bar. I loved how it was decorated... very earthy... very inviting... I bought a round of Victory Golden Monkey for my friends and we headed out onto the patio to enjoy the cool breeze. After drinking cocktails and getting yelled at for walking through the waitress station we hit up another bar. All I really remember from that bar is waiting forever to use the bathroom. Then we were off to the house party! When we entered there was a live painter, art all over the walls, many, young, hip, party-goers, and one young gentleman passed out on the couch... We went downstairs to find the keg and ended up finding the music as well. By this point we just HAD to dance. So we're drinking, and dancing and then the DJ started spinning a track in which you could clearly hear the lyrics "Fun Town"!!! And I'm not making that up either. I promise. :) After exhausting myself on the basement dance floor we headed back up stairs and chatted with a few random people about art, film, music and everything in between. I was handed the coolest flyer ever... it was covered in bubble-wrap! By this point it was getting pretty late... Our night was coming to an end... which can only mean one thing.. 7-11! Oh thank heaven for Toquidos and white cheddar popcorn, which exploded all over the car on the way home. It was hilarious... and also more convenient for me to eat it from the back seat. We got back to Ross' and i instantly passed out on the couch... It was so uncomfortable... but after the night I just had... so worth it.

Loly's Funtown story!

Okay in a nutshell.....

The fun all started on Friday, when I left work early (around noon) to hula hoop with all the fine folks at The Hoop Village at Mayfair in Allentown. Man, did Tina Hemmerle of The Lehigh Valley Revolutions Hoop Club have the site hooked up!!!! At any given time you would see 20-30 hoopers of all skill level and ages do their thang!!!! Super-Fun environment, you could make your own hoop, participate in a hoop exercise class, music thearpy class and hoop like theres no tomorrow.

The only reason I left was to make it to a performance at The Touchstone Theatre I was in this week (Wed.-Sat). This week the apprentices at Touchstone revealed theatrical pieces they wrote/performed themselves. I was able to help my friend "G" with his piece called "Forgiveness" by playing a little bit of flute accompaniment. Extra fun on Friday when CAB artists came to check out their work hung up in the Theatre. Thanks to the 5 artists who stepped up to rock that joint with some seriously beautiful art pieces (thanks Ben Franklin Pawlowski) and Merge was up there sponsoring the Opening of the collaborative apprenticship program "Fresh Voices". Thanks Merge for all the free swag...tees, light-up necklaces, lip balm, beer cosies and more! Then on Friday night I was off to The FUNhouse to check out The Teeth before they stepped off on their nationwide tour for the Summer. Best of Luck, Teeth....Spread the Fun!!! (slept good Friday night)

Saturday, I awoke to set-up the Mural on New St. in Bethlehem by 11am. We had lots of fun creating another panel of the mosaic mural....the community putting the pieces togeather!!! It is glorious, and I am AMPED up to get this thing finally on the wall.

Not too late to join the fun, by the way, you can join us June 3rd (sunday) from 12-4 at 316 S. New St. Bethlehem/The Wildflower and get your hands dirty to create history!!!! lots OF fUN! Alas, not only did I have lots of Fun, I got lots of Sun and got pretty ill and crisped. However, I pulled it togeather and got ready for my final performance at The Touchstone, which turned out to be the best one yet! Then promptly went home to nurse my sunstruckness!

Sunday.....feeling restored, I trekked again to Mayfair to join the hooping fun at Hoop Village and had the opprotunity to jam with local musician Paul Thiessen. What fun indeed, he evn said that I can sit in on flute with his band ANYTIME! Good to know about fun opp's in the future! Stayed there until I couldn't stand being in the exposed sun any longer and headed to a friends house where a raging Bar-B-Q was in progress. They had every kind of meat in this or that seasoning...yumm, you'd think I was getting ready to hibernate. Worked off my grub down through horseshoes, bean bag toss, hoopin', splashing around in the kiddie pool and arm curls of drinking cool beverages ;)

Monday, I'm holding tight to the holiday weekend. After picking up my car from the night before (drink responsibly)...I chilled at my pad sipping on some lovely margaritas in the beautiful weather on my porch. Then had some dinner with my neighbors (who cooks for Pearly Bakers in Easton)...OH, MAN...I never had ribs like that before. Great company, great food! Then I popped in ,with a housewarming bouquet, at a friends new spot and we both proceeded to Open Mic at The Funhouse....which is big fun!~ Every other Monday, Lehigh Valley! And finally, today, Tuesday....I get a second to reflect on all the fun! Love yas!
